Summary | 0005409: lightdm missing from MATE ISO
Description | the lightdm package appears to be missing from the MATE ISO which causes a login prompt to display on the command line and startx is required to get to the desktop. The Xfce and default installation media does not have a similar issue.
Steps To Reproduce | Simply download the MATE ISO and go through the installation. You will be greeted with a login on the command line rather than a graphical login to the desktop environment.
Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling <= 2019.1), these legacy versions are no longer supported. Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)? If you are still facing the same problem, feel free to re-open the ticket. If you choose to do this, could you provide more information to the issue you are facing, and also give information about your setup? |
