Summary0005610: Firefox-ESR 60.8.0esr crashes when my laptop is on battery
Description

when I launch firefox or chrome or even using curl, when my laptop is on battery, it keep crashing:

I've found several messages in /var/log/messages

  • firefox-esr.desktop[2169]: [Child 20586, Chrome_ChildThread] WARNING: pipe error (3): Connection reset by peer: file /build/firefox-esr-5uDrOt/firefox-esr-60.8.0esr pipe error (3): Connection reset by peer: file /build/firefox-esr-5uDrOt/firefox-esr-60.8.0esr/ipc/chromium/src/chrome/common/ipc_channel_posix.cc, line 342

  • kernel: [ 3227.989469] Chrome_~dThread[20590]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f7df53ed921 sp 00007f7df3838ad0 error 6 in libxul.so[7f7df53d9000+3f80000]

Sometimes in Firefox I have this error "SEC_ERROR_KEYGEN_FAIL", and when I launch it in debug mode I get this error "use libcurl.so instead of curl"

This happens only when I use my laptop on battery.

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling <= 2019.2), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
