| Summary | 0005872: Can't update initramfs in Live USB with encrypted persistence | ||||
| Description | My computer has 2 GPU drivers one for display which is from Intel the Intel HD 5500 and the other is Nvidia Geforce 820M. I try to blacklist the Intel GPU from terminal and update initramfs in order for Kali to work with the Nvidia driver because it can't be supported to work with both of the two on Kali Linux from what I have read so far but it doesn't update the initramfs, instead it displays the messsage: root@kali:~# live-update-initramfs | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Have a 2 GPU computer and type "live-update-initramfs" inside terminal. | ||||
|
I'm sorry but this can't be fixed. The kernel and initramfs are hardcoded in the ISO at build time and can't be upgraded through persistence. The reason is that the persistence is setup by the early boot system, so after kernel and initramfs have been loaded. |
