Summary0005923: NVIA GPU PROBLEM AND LSPCI COMMAND
Description

The NVIDIA open source driver, nouveau, has an error whereby the lspci command crashes when it tries to poll the PCI Express location of the NVIDIA GPU.

The system that I have installed (Kali Linux) and that has one (1) or more NVIDIA GPUs installed, when they emit "lspci". The command consumes a large amount of CPU resources and the command and causes the computer to crash, causing the computer to shut down urgently as a security measure.

Sincerely, Igor Sandín - Student of Development of Web Applications and Operating Systems

Steps To Reproduce

The LSPCI command is executed and turned off as a security measure.

Additional Information

The NVIDIA open source driver, nouveau, has an error whereby the lspci command crashes when it tries to poll the PCI Express location of the NVIDIA GPU. Using the proprietary NVIDIA driver avoids the problem.

I have a hard time believing this bug. lspci is not a CPU intensive operation but in any case, if it's truly a nouveau bug, then you should report it against that project. There's nothing we can do on our side.
