| Description | I checked my distro's version using "uname -v" and "uname -r" after using "dist-upgrade", and the version number it gave me doesn't appear to exist anywhere on the release schedule nor on the roadmap or beta builds. | ||||
| Steps To Reproduce | Torrented stable kali large 2019.4 iso from official website, had correct checksum. Made a kali live USB on tails using the "dd" terminal command. Booted into kali live usb and installed kali distro on internal SSD. Ran "apt-get dist-upgrade -Vy" and rebooted. Checked verision number using uname -v and -r, and it returned a version number of Kali that doesn't seem to exist publicly anywhere. | ||||
| Additional Information | I routinely update my entire kali-large distro at least once a week using "apt-get dist-upgrade". Even though I'm not using the beta build too. My distro is torrented straight from the kali linux website and the checksum was correct. I installed this distro using a kali live usb that was formatted on tails using the "dd" command about 2 weeks ago after my previous HDD failed. Which has worked everytime for me in the past when I had to, with no issues since they are fairly similar distros, both use gnome and are debian based. | ||||

This is because kali is a rolling OS - as soon as there is an update - its applied =). Package got an update on 2019-12-13 ~ https://pkg.kali.org/pkg/linux |
