|Target Version||Fixed in Version|
|Summary||0006223: New install of Kali 2020.1b Live/Persistence with Openvas install|
|Description||Kali 2020.1b boots up on new bootable flash drive, looks good.|
Installed Openvas and setup...
Ran Openvas start as root, startup script looks good but, it popped up error window instead of GSA web console.
Error is as follows:
Failed to execute default Web Browser
Loopback ports are listening 9390, 9392, 80
ping of 127.0.0.1 is good over wifi
Is there a problem with the openvas-start script running as root or admin?
Help a novice Kali user...
|Steps To Reproduce||Via menu or at root@kali# openvas-start|
Fails to make loopback web connection for GSA to come up showing the dashboard.
I do not get the popup about certification either...
|Additional Information||Openvas installed is 9.0...|
I have installed Kali 2020.1 and Openvas on a computer and it runs fine.
I setup a 4G partition for persistence to work too.

After installing, setting up, checking setup, password creation, and starting OpenVAS, everything went fine except for the browser not opening on its own "Failed to execute default browser Web Browser". I'm assuming its a permission issue setting of some sort (although I tried allowing everything and didn't seem to work).
However...as a quick fix and to get OpenVAS to work, click on the Kali browser (without exiting from the command shell, to keep running OpenVAS of course) then type in https://127.0.0.1:9392 and hit enter, then allow the security prompt that the browser throws out, and you're in.
