Summary0006695: Loginloop as well as desktop tiny resolution which is unconfigurable from the GUI settings.
Description

Good afternoon,

I have two Kali virtuals on my Mac. After updating one with the latest today (dist-upgrade 5.7.0-Kali3) Aug 31 2020, I can no longer log into my profile (non-root). I can login (GUI) as root but not with my normal non-root account. I have attempted to remove/reinstall GDM3, Gnome-Session, lightdm and tried a large varieties of fixes from Youtube and many other websites which have not fixed the issue. Currently, this issue has just started on one virtual in which I updated today. Performing the update today keeps me in a login loop with my non-root user. I did not change anything on my profile it just started to happen.

The other issue that persists across all Kali virtuals is the resolution is so small and not configureable from the resolution settings. I have even upgraded VirtualBox(6.1.12) reinstalled Kali on a fresh virtual and ensured the new VirtualBox guest additions were installed with no success.

I use Kali as my daily driver. I have not installed unsupported packages only installed the updates. Please advise.

Steps To Reproduce

For login loop - I rebooted, upgraded, dist-upgrade, uninstalled/installed gnome software and the issue still persists.

For the resolution issue - I have updated to the latest version of Kali, reboot after every change to resolution settings but the problem remains.

Additional Information

I have not installed unsupported software.
