The latest Debian distro has no problem with curl by using -s
I've tested on Ubuntu 20.10 too, and there everything is ok

Everything is ok, but when I've decided to reinstall the OS, something is not ok with your repo mirrors for upgrading the OS.
So, you should check that how properly upgrade your product Kali Linux, before I do this I detect a lot of libraries were broken after upgrading the OS.
