Summary0007695: Keyboard Input not working
Description

I have upgraded my old kali 22.1 64bit VM with the apt upgrade. Then it started to not take keyboard inputs after reboot.
to fix this we need to reboot the VM 3 to 4 times then it will start to take keyboard inputs.
then I tried kali's latest weekly build 22-w18 64bit in virtual box and VMware.
the problem still persists.

this problem exists in all builds after upgrading.
I am not tested this in bare metal.

Steps To Reproduce
 1. upgrade kali to the latest with apt-get upgrade
 2. restart the vm.

then you will get the issue.

Did you try a 2022.1 image, without doing any dist-upgrade? If you also have the problem with it, then it's clearly a problem on your side, and not a problem with Kali.

Note: I just tried to run latest Kali with VMware, it works fine for me.

2022.1 build running without any issue, the problem starts when I upgrade packages with apt update && apt upgrade -y

Can you tell me what version of the package open-vm-tools is installed on your machine? The command to run is:

dpkg -l | grep open-vm-tools

Thanks.

I upgraded open-vm-tools, and after using it for 2 days I think the problem is solved.
