Description | When trying to install the Forensic-extras package along with forensics-all i get error regarding file can not overwrite "trying to overwrite '/etc/ipv6toolkit.conf', which is also in package ipv6-toolkit 2.1+git20210331-0kali1" | ||||
Steps To Reproduce | 1. open terminal and change user to root using sudo -i 2. type command apt update after this command I type in apt install forensic-all it procceds to installl then error "You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies: forensics-extra : Depends: ipv6toolkit but it is not going to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution)." 3. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' - dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/ipv6toolkit_2.0+ds.1-2+b1_amd64.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite '/etc/ipv6toolkit.conf', which is also in package ipv6-toolkit 2.1+git20210331-0kali1 dpkg-deb: error: paste subprocess was killed by signal (Broken pipe) Errors were encountered while processing: /var/cache/apt/archives/ipv6toolkit_2.0+ds.1-2+b1_amd64.deb E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1) | ||||

I can remember we talked about replacing our package ipv6-toolkit with the one from debian ipv6toolkit, but that one was outdated We could also rename our package for now to avoid this issue What do you think @sbrun? |

I was thinking that the update in Debian would happen quickly but the Debian maintainer is waiting for a new upstream release for several months now. I pinged upstream today. In the meantime I will modify the Kali package. |
