Are you sure that the device isn't working? ifconfig alone does NOT show all devices, you need to run "ifconfig -a" - just plugging in a device does not bring it up.

Also, an upgrade from 1.0 will not work, you will need to download the 1.0.5 and start from there, because the 1.0.5 image uses a different kernel config and we do not package the kernels for the ARM devices.

I've tested a number of usb wifi devices with my rpi here, and if you are absolutely not getting them to work, make sure you are NOT powering the rpi via a USB port but actually using a decent AC adapter.

ok was not aware of that.
I'll reload the 1.0.5 version. I'm using a decent AC power supply already.

thanks
kind regards

Is this still an issue for you with the latest version(s)? 1.0.9 or 1.1.1 (soon to be out)?

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
We will be closing this ticket due to inactivity.

Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)?
