I don't think so. I have an installation of kubuntu 24.10 fully upgraded today where there isn't the same problem and the application menu works fine as it should also in kali KDE.
Some other idea?

I'm not sure what you mean about this issue with the menu, and I'm not having problems with my KDE desktop after all the plasma 6 updates.
Could you share some screenshots showing the bug, and how it should behave? |

It is not so complicated and no need of screenshots.
My Kali KDE was working fine and suddenly, after some normal upgrades to plasma 6, the application menu stopped to display Name (Description) and it began to display in place of the Description the Comment contents of each menu item in spite of the fact that the Application Menu is configured to display Name (Description).
It's that simple. The problem is how to fix it.

It is not simple and complete unclear what you mean :-)
And Kali is based on Debian testing, not Kubuntu 24.04 so this doesn't say something. |

Maybe review https://www.kali.org/docs/community/submitting-issues-kali-bug-tracker/ and rewrite your report so that it's understood what you mean? |

I'm unable to reproduce your issue. I've tested multiple updates and clear installations and the menu shows the item name and the description, except in the favorites tab, which is configured to grid display |

first of all want thank you for your application in trying to fix this problem.
I will try to give some more details:
1) I am working with x11 and KDE.
2) I work with the Application Menu alternative.
3 I think the problem began after the upgrade of kali-menu done the day 07 December 2024. In fact this day there was two successive upgrades of this application. It is possible that the problem reside in kali-menu or in some of libraries it eventually use.
4) I restored an installation updated at the end of last November and all still was working fine.
You know, sometimes I experienced problems after upgrades that was resolved by other successive updates. Some times not and after some days I was obliged to restore a backup and perform an upgrade again and it often solved the problem. I think that in the "rolling" system of upgrades there is some contraindications.
I will try to restore an older working fine version and perform an upgrade from there and see what will happens. I will inform you.

Well. I upgraded an old backup dating of the end of November when the behavior of the Application menu was normally fine.
And at the end of the complete upgrade (upgrade and dist-upgrade) the malfunction Name (Description) with Comment in place of Description appeared again.
Then?
There must be some bug in the process of files upgraded. I am sorry but so we are.
Anyway, as I told you, I can perfectly work with only displaying Menu Names without Description and maybe in a future upgrade the problem will disappear.
Maybe. Who knows?

a further clarification might interest you: only now I realized that there is a case in which the Description is displayed after the Name and that is when the Comments field is empty.
In that case we have the correct Name (Description) display, in all other cases we have the Comments instead of the Description display.
