Description

sometimes the screen doesn't turn off when i press the power button. this has happened twice now, in the midst of about 20 reboots.

i just experienced this again. it was after boot, but before login. i couldn't turn the screen off

This is not a bug or an issue — it's simply how greetd works.
At boot, greetd prompts you to log in. Once you log in, greetd starts Phosh, and you'll get the GUI.
After that, if you press the power button, Phosh takes over and manages the lock screen. Pressing the power button again will lock the screen and turn it off.
The power button will only lock the device and turn off the screen when Phosh is running.

So, here’s what you can do: either log in at boot and then use the power button to lock the screen, or disable greetd and enable Phosh so you'll get phosh login instead of greetd login prompt.
