Summary0009328: Kali Linux] rog-control-center fails to start after GPU/display errors on boot
Description

Hello,

I am using an ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 GA402XV laptop on Kali Linux (Debian 12 base) .
On boot, I see several display/GPU related errors on the screen (before login).
After logging in, when I try to start rog-control-center, it crashes with the following:

System details

  • OS: Kali Linux (Debian 12 base)
  • Desktop: GNOME (X11 session)
  • Kernel: 6.12.38-1kali1
  • rog-control-center: built from source (latest commit)

Steps tried

  • Confirmed $XDG_SESSION_TYPE=x11
  • Tried setting env WINIT_UNIX_BACKEND=x11 before launching
  • Installed linux-image-amd64 and updated system
  • Removed invalid repos from sources.list.d

Questions

  1. Could the boot GPU/display errors be the reason rog-control-center does not start?
  2. Is there a workaround to force X11 backend on Kali/Debian 12?
  3. Do I need a specific asusctl version or patched kernel module?

Thank you for your work on this project!

Sounds more like s support question for https://forums.kali.org/ rather then a valid bug report.
