Summary0009834: kali-linux-2026.2-installer-amd64.iso failing to install software, desktop and applications
Description

After three unsuccessful re-install attempts of the kali-linux-2026.2-installer-amd64.iso, the package consistently fails at the Software install phase before the Grub boot step, over 24 hours of waiting for the Kali install to complete. The base linux system and command line access are now accessible, but no Desktop or associated applications were installed.

having done a search from the Linux command line, there where no directory or executable reference of the Gnome desktop that was supposed to be installed. My understanding by the installation instructions was that the .iso image I downloaded to install was STAND-ALONE INSTALL, which did not require a live internet connection to successfully install - that is not the case here.
