Summary0004263: LibreOffice Writer doesn't start
Description

After last upgrade LibreOffice Writer doesn't start.
Other LibreOffice's components work (like Calc, Draw, etc.) but not Writer.

Steps To Reproduce

apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

libreoffice --writer

No Error message. Just it open nothing.

Additional Information

I tried to change jvm used but nothing happened.
I tried to remove user configuration files but nothing.
I tried to remove package but it say that "gnome" depends from libreoffice
so I cannot remove it.

same for me... after update to Kali 2017-2 I'm unable to start writer processor

Try this workaround:

open LibreOffice or LibreOffice Calc

use the menu:
Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced

un-check the box:
[x] Use a Java Runtime Environment

Quit LibreOffice
Start LibreOffice Writer
It should work :)

Hi broomdodger.
Following your suggestion LibreOffice Writer works again, thank you.
However without JVM it seems LibreOffice gets lost any previously documents formatting.

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x/2017.1/2017.2), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
We will be closing this ticket due to inactivity.

Please could you see if you are able to replicate this issue with the latest version of Kali Linux - https://www.kali.org/downloads/)?
