Description | I recently installed PRETTY_NAME="Kali GNU/Linux Rolling" version 2024.2 with kernel version 6.8.11-amd64 This freezes when i try to boot into the system while trying to run the init-premount script Even fresh install doesnt fix the problem, | ||||
I have same issue, same workaround works, but it's quite annoying not being able to boot normally, any news? In my case it happens with 2024.3 and also after kernel update |

It looks like an issue with hardware, likely the DELL Latitude 7490 is not well supported? You can have a look at https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Dell/Latitude7490 to see if anything in this page can help. Otherwise, and if you have time, you could try to install a Debian system (from a weekly image). If you can reproduce the issue, it means it's definitely not specific to Kali, and there's nothing we can do. We really can't work on hardware support issue, we're not kernel developers and don't have the bandwidth to work on that, sorry. |
