Summary0009217: Gnome Shell - Something went wrong X_X
Description

On a fresh installation of Kali with GNOME Shell as the primary environment, after running sudo apt update & sudo apt upgrade, an error appears ("Something went wrong") and remains on the screen. It seems that the gdm3 service stops, and some GNOME Shell package is not installed.
The issue was resolved by restarting gdm3 and running sudo apt install gnome-shell.
XFCE and LightDM work correctly.

Did you only run sudo apt upgrade? We recommend running sudo apt full-upgrade which is found in the docs at https://www.kali.org/docs/general-use/updating-kali/ so this is expected behaviour when not every package is updated correctly
