Description

I am trying to install (or use) cudahashcat in Kali 1.0.9 and unable to find it in repositories.

I can find oclhashcat-plus (which is supposed to have cudahashcat - I verified it from git .. git contains cudahascat) but when I actually install oclhashcat-plus, cudahashcat is not installed with it.

My repositories below:

Regular repositories

deb http://http.kali.org/kali kali main non-free contrib
deb http://security.kali.org/kali-security kali/updates main contrib non-free

Source repositories

deb-src http://http.kali.org/kali kali main non-free contrib
deb-src http://security.kali.org/kali-security kali/updates main contrib non-free

"apt-file search cudahashcat" returns nothing.

There no cudahashcat in "/usr/share/oclhashcat"

git contains cudahascat

Steps To Reproduce

Tried 2 fresh install. Same issue. To reproduce:

  1. Install Kali 1.0.9 (fresh install)
  2. Update repositories, apt-get update, upgrade, dist-upgrade
  3. Install NVIDIA driver
  4. Install CUDA driver
  5. Re-install pyrit and cpyrit
  6. Now picks up correct CUDA enabled driver
  7. Install oclhashcat oclhashcat-plus
  8. Type in cudahashcat -b in terminal,
  9. Error " bash: cudahashcat: command not found"

Hi blackMORE,

staticn0de has created a .deb with cudaHashcat 1.30 forums.kali.org / Community Generated How-tos / Installing-Nvidia-Bumblebee-CUDA-for-Optimus-enabled-Laptops (first page of the forum) / page8 / post79.

Note that this install cudaHashcat in the cudaHashcat directory and not in oclHashcat like it was before. So the paths of the 'magical formulas' will need to be edited to point at the new location.

Thanks quest, yeap seen that post and it was very kind of staticn0de.

But it's a bug nevertheless and should be reported.

(I haven't finished testing it yet, but based on the comments in different websites, it broke sometime during 1.0.8 release).

Due to the age of the OS (Kali Moto [v1], Kali Safi [v2], Kali Rolling 2016.x), these legacy versions are no longer supported.
